Rhyms and algorithms: AI literacy through poetry-slam
Summary ▽
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies can potentially influence children’s learning and cognitive development significantly. This calls for careful guidance and critical reflection on their integration into education, alongside a focus on essential competencies for both students and teachers. These competencies, known as “AI literacy,” are often defined beyond technical skills, encompassing critical thinking, ethical awareness, and collaborative abilities to equip learners for the opportunities and challenges of AI. This interaction seeks to harness the arts as a powerful tool for fostering AI literacy through a human-centred approach, encouraging creativity, reflection, and deeper engagement with technology.
It is structured around three key activities for the students: exploring artificial intelligence through a visit to the House of AI, an interactive space complemented by dedicated presentations; developing their cognitive and socio-emotional skills through slam poetry workshops; and finally, applying their knowledge by using Generative AI to enhance their work and expand their cultural references, in alignment with the school curriculum.

Summary ▽
The Swedish cultural and higher education sectors are currently grappling with a significant challenge: a sharp increase in real estate costs. Held at Rågsveds Folkets Hus and the SSES premises, the interaction, inspired from traditional hackathons, created an immersive environment for students’ collaboration and exploration of this challenge.
Students were introduced to case studies highlighting the challenges faced by cultural and educational institutions, such as rising rents, budget constraints, and their impact on communities. Guided by representatives from the local community and SSES, participants analysed these issues using a systems-thinking framework, which encouraged them to see the interconnectedness of factors influencing these challenges.

House of AI: raising awareness on Artificial Intelligence
Summary ▽
In recent years, the Kozani municipality has established itself as a local leader in sustainability and innovation, driving progress in this historically rural area. Through this interaction, a new mission was taken over: support the local population in gaining valuable insights into AI and its far-reaching impact on their daily lives—both personally and professionally. More importantly, a large audience learned how to engage with AI, equipping themselves with the skills needed to adapt and evolve alongside this rapidly advancing technology.
This interaction was structured around three dedicated workshops, each tailored to a specific audience: professionals from the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs), environmental educators, and the general public, with a particular focus on women. Each workshop blended informative presentations, hands-on experimentation with AI, and artistic activities, allowing participants to contextualise their learnings and explore AI’s potential through a creative and practical lens.
