The Ageing Research Center (ARC) at the Karolinska Institute—a world-leading medical research institute located in Stockholm—collaborated with the Stockholm School of Photography on a trans-disciplinary project centered on the idea of ageing and older peoples health and living conditions. 20 student photographers were given access to the centers research on ageing and were asked to interpret it in a series of photographs.
The outcomes were displayed in an exhibition hosted at the school of photography in 2020 together with lectures on the topic of ageing from researchers at the ARC. A short documentary film of the collaboration has also been produced.
The project helped the research on ageing conducted at the centre to reach a public audience beyond the research environment, something that was considered valuable since their research is about the psychological and social aspects of ageing, which will impact everyone in the general public sooner or later.
